Installation, Service & Aftercare

We don't disappear after the invoice.

Most machinery suppliers consider delivery the end of the job. We consider it the beginning. Every machine IWM sells is installed, commissioned, and backed by our engineers — for the life of the equipment.

Why it matters

A machine that isn't running isn't an asset.

Buying machinery is a capital decision measured in decades, not years. The purchase price is one number. The cost of poor installation, inadequate operator training, and slow aftercare support is another — and it compounds every time the machine is down.

We have seen what happens when a workshop buys a well-specified machine from a supplier who then provides a telephone number and a parts catalogue and considers the job done. Operators who weren't properly trained develop workarounds. Small calibration issues that would have taken twenty minutes to fix on commissioning day become production problems that run for months.

"The relationship matters more than the order. And the order isn't complete until the machine is running correctly on your floor."
Parts & Ongoing Support

Support that doesn't end when the warranty does.

The machines we sell are built to run for twenty years. Our support relationship is designed to match that lifespan — not expire after twelve months.

£3.2M

UK spare parts stock

For Soukup installations, common wear parts, consumables, and failure-mode components are held in UK stock. We do not ask customers to wait for parts to arrive from mainland Europe.

50+

Years of manufacturer relationships

When a problem sits above the parts level — a software issue, an engineering question, a component no longer in standard production — our relationships with Soukup, Falach, Copenstick and others mean we can escalate directly. Not through a distributor chain. Directly

No expiry on the relationship

Customers who bought machines from IWM five years ago still call us. We still answer. That is not a policy we wrote down somewhere — it is simply how Ian Brown has always operated, and it is not changing.

Manufacturer Partnership

Official UK partner for Soukup window & door machinery.

For specialist timber window and door manufacturers, Soukup is the European benchmark. As their official UK partner, we don't just sell their machines - we specify the right configuration, commission it on your floor, and stock the parts inventory to keep it running.

Parts & Ongoing Support

Support that doesn't end when the warranty does.

How long does installation typically take?

It depends on the machine. A single mechanical machine — a spindle moulder, planer thicknesser, or briquette press — is typically commissioned in half a day to a full day including operator training. A CNC line or multi-machine installation will take longer, and we will give you a realistic timeline during the specification process. We will not rush commissioning to fit a schedule at the expense of getting it right.

Do you install anywhere in the UK?

Yes. We have installed machinery across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Distance does not affect our commitment to attending in person — it affects the timeline, which we factor into the delivery schedule. If you are in a remote location, talk to us and we will give you an honest lead time.

What preparation does my site need before delivery?

We brief you on this during the pre-delivery survey. In most cases it comes down to: correct electrical supply (three-phase for most industrial machines), a level and clear floor area with the correct dimensions, and adequate access for the delivery vehicle. For compressed-air machines we will confirm your supply pressure requirements. We do not arrive on site and discover the power spec is wrong — that conversation happens weeks earlier.

What does the 12-month warranty cover?

Parts and labour for manufacturing defects and component failures under normal operating conditions for 12 months from the installation date. Consumable items — tooling, blades, belts, and similar wear components — are not covered by warranty, but we can supply them. If something fails in the warranty period, call us. We do not ask you to diagnose the fault first or fill out a form.

Can you service machines you didn't supply?

In many cases, yes — particularly for the brands we represent (Soukup, Falach, Copenstick, and others). If you have an existing machine that needs attention, call us and describe the situation. We will tell you honestly whether it is something we can help with. We are not in the business of turning away customers with genuine machinery problems.

What happens after the warranty expires?

You can still call us. We hold parts, we know the machines, and we have the manufacturer relationships to help with non-standard problems. Warranty expiry is not a relationship expiry. Many of our longest-standing customers have machines well outside warranty that we still support. It is simply how we work.
