MOSTRO 1000 2U

Baromak · Joinery Workshop
A production-grade dual-station wide belt sander for workshops that need to calibrate and finish panels up to 1000 mm wide in a single pass. Built for consistent throughput where stopping to change grits or swap machines costs time you don't have.

Typically chosen by

  • Panel and door manufacturers processing wide boards who need a reliable calibration pass before finishing
  • Joinery and cabinet shops that sand a variety of thicknesses in the same run and need two independently adjustable heads to achieve it in one pass
  • Production workshops where throughput matters and a 20 m/min conveyor speed means the machine won't become the bottleneck

See it run on your own material

Bring us a sample profile or board and we'll run it through the machine at our Newark showroom. You'll see the output quality firsthand and we can talk through how it fits your workflow - before any decisions are made.

Key specification considerations

Working Width
1000 mm
Sets the maximum panel or board width the machine will accept — components wider than this must be run in two passes or require a wider machine such as the MOSTRO 1300 2U.
Sanding Stations
2 (independently adjustable)
Each head can be set to a different grit or pressure, allowing calibration and finishing to be combined in a single pass rather than two separate operations.
Conveyor Speed
Up to 20 m/min
Total Installed Power
28.97 kW
This is a 400V three-phase machine drawing significant current — confirm your supply capacity and distribution board headroom with your electrician before ordering.
SpecificationValueNotes
Working Width
Up to 1000 mm
Material Thickness
3 mm – 160 mm
The 3 mm minimum is worth checking against your thinnest components — very thin stock can be prone to snatching on wide belt machines; discuss your material profile with IWM if this is a concern.
Minimum Product Length
400 mm (working length from 450 mm)
Shorter components than this cannot be guaranteed to track consistently through the machine.
Sanding Stations
2 (independently adjustable)
Sanding Unit Roller Diameter
190 mm
Max Thickness Reduction per Pass
0.5 mm
Max Conveyor Speed
20 m/min
Total Installed Power
28.97 kW
Voltage
400 V
Three-phase supply required — confirm availability at your site before specifying.
Machine Dimensions (L × W × H)
2060 × 1710 × 2150 mm
The 1710 mm width is the machine body alone — allow additional clearance on both the infeed and outfeed sides for the longest components you intend to run.
Total Machine Weight
2,093 kg
At over 2 tonnes, floor loading should be assessed before installation — consult a structural engineer if your workshop floor is not a ground-bearing concrete slab.

Abrasive Belt Details
Contact IWM for belt specification
Abrasive belt dimensions and recommended grit range should be confirmed with IWM at the point of enquiry, as these may vary by configuration — using the correct belt specification is important for both finish quality and belt life.
Extraction Connection
Contact IWM for extraction specification
Extraction connection size and minimum airflow requirement should be confirmed with IWM before planning your ducting — under-specified extraction on a machine of this width will affect both surface finish and dust compliance.
Motor Configuration
Contact IWM for motor breakdown
Individual head and conveyor motor ratings are available from IWM on request — useful if you need to verify distribution board loading per circuit.

Is this the right
machine for you?

Choose the MOSTRO 1000 2U if...

  • Your standard panel or board width sits at or below 1000 mm and you don't routinely need to process wider material
  • You need to calibrate and finish in a single pass — the two independent heads let you run different grits simultaneously without a second machine
  • Your workshop runs a mix of thicknesses across the day and needs a machine that handles 3 mm veneered panels and 160 mm solid sections without reconfiguration
  • You have the three-phase supply and floor space to accommodate a production-grade machine and want the throughput that comes with it

Consider an alternate model if...

  • You regularly process material wider than 1000 mm — the MOSTRO 1300 2U or MOSTRO 1300 2U S would be the natural step up and are worth comparing directly
  • Your volumes are lower or your floor space more limited — the LUNA 1000 PRO may offer a more appropriate specification at a smaller footprint; talk to IWM about where the crossover point sits for your production
  • You need wider capacity with a softer, more compliant sanding action — the MORBIDO 1300 is designed with that in mind and may suit certain finishing applications better
  • You are unsure whether a 1000 mm or 1300 mm working width better matches your future workload — this is worth discussing with IWM before committing, as upsizing after installation is not straightforward
