WT2 Wood Burning Heater

Wood Waste Technology
A straightforward way to turn your workshop's wood offcuts into free heat. The WT2 is sized for smaller joinery and craft workshops up to around 2,500 ft², with a compact footprint and minimal installation complexity.

Typically chosen by

  • Small joinery or craft workshops looking to offset heating costs by burning their own wood waste
  • Businesses with limited floor space who need a heater with a modest footprint
  • Workshops heating a single unit or bay up to around 2,500 ft² where a larger WT model would be over-specified

Key specification considerations

Heating Coverage
Up to ~2,500 ft²
This is an approximate guide — actual coverage will depend on insulation quality, ceiling height, and building fabric. IWM can help you assess whether the WT2 is correctly sized for your space.
Heat Output
25 kW / 85,300 BTU/hr
At 25 kW this is a direct warm-air unit — heat is delivered into the workshop space rather than via wet radiator circuits, so placement and any ductwork runs need to be planned at installation stage.
Fuel Consumption
200–350 kg of wood waste per week
Whether your waste output matches this range is worth checking before specifying — if your workshop produces significantly more or less, a different model in the WT range may be a better fit.
Thermostatic Control
Yes — fully thermostatically controlled
The thermostat regulates burn rate automatically, so the heater maintains a consistent temperature without manual adjustment throughout the working day.

Heat Output

Air Volume

Fuel Consumption
200–350 kg of wood waste per week
Consumption range reflects variation in waste type, moisture content, and heating demand.
Fuel Types Accepted
Uncontaminated softwood and hardwood timber offcuts
The WT2 is designed for clean, dry wood waste only — it does not carry the exempt appliance status required to burn chipboard or MDF; if your waste stream includes composite board, the WT5 or above should be considered.
Thermostatic Control
Yes
Unit Dimensions (L × W × H)
1,695 mm × 950 mm × 1,000 mm
Allow additional clearance around the unit for safe loading access and flue connection; confirm exact clearances with your installer.
Weight
310 kg
Electrical Supply Required
Single phase, 13 A
Standard single-phase supply — no dedicated 3-phase circuit required, which simplifies installation in most workshop settings.
Flue
Stainless steel flue sold per metre; maximum recommended ductwork height 6 m
Flue runs above 6 m require prior discussion with your installer due to health and safety requirements.
DEFRA Approval
Yes — DEFRA approved
DEFRA approval confirms the unit meets clean air standards; however, the WT2 does not hold full exempt appliance status for composite board materials, so check your local smoke control area status and waste type before specifying.

Is this the right
machine for you?

Choose the WT2 Wood Burning Heater if...

  • Your workshop is a single unit or bay up to around 2,500 ft² and does not require zoned or multi-area heating
  • Your wood waste output sits broadly in the 200–350 kg per week range — enough to fuel consistent heating without surplus
  • Floor space is limited and you need the most compact option in the WT range, with single-phase electrical installation and no specialist wiring

Consider an alternate model if...

  • Your workshop exceeds 2,500 ft² — the WT5 (up to ~4,000 ft²) or WT10 (up to ~7,500 ft²) will be more appropriately sized and avoid the unit running beyond its design capacity
  • You produce significantly more than 350 kg of wood waste per week — the WT10 (800–1,250 kg/week) or WT15 (1,000–2,000 kg/week) may be better matched to your waste volume
  • Your waste stream includes chipboard or MDF offcuts — the WT5 and above hold full exempt appliance status for composite board materials, which the WT2 does not
