Case Study - London Box Sash
London Box Sash specialises in manufacturing traditional sliding sash window replacements for the London market. To support their production of period-accurate box sash windows, they specified a Soukup Crafter CNC Window Machining Centre alongside a Hydraulic Frame and Sash Cramp. The installation has given the business the precision machining capability their traditional product demands.
The Challenge
London Box Sash focuses exclusively on the replacement sliding sash window market in London, a sector that demands close adherence to traditional profiles and joinery details. Producing accurate cill sections with the correct box geometry for period properties requires consistent, repeatable machining — something that is difficult to achieve reliably with conventional spindle or router setups when working at volume. The business needed a dedicated CNC window machining solution capable of trenching cill sections to the precise tolerances their traditional box sash construction requires.
The Solution
IWM specified the Soukup Crafter CNC Window Machining Centre, a purpose-built working centre designed for exactly this type of window joinery production. The machine's ability to trench cill sections for sash boxes — as demonstrated in the installation video — made it a natural fit for London Box Sash's core product. Alongside the Crafter, a Hydraulic Frame and Sash Cramp was installed to support accurate assembly and clamping during the construction of the sash frames, giving the workshop a complete machining and assembly capability under one roof.
The Results
The installation gave London Box Sash a dedicated, repeatable process for producing traditional sliding sash windows to the standards expected in the London period property market. The Soukup Crafter's CNC trenching capability in particular addressed the most technically demanding aspect of their production — accurate cill preparation for the sash boxes.
