In This Case Study

I had a lot of conversations with a lot of companies, but nothing quite added up for PCW. When we found the Soukup Crafter it was like a dream come true! With Ian's knowledge and experience, I knew we would get the right machine for us. Everything came on time, the installation was quick and it was all set-up and ready to go in no time.

Perfect Crystal Windows, an established UPVC window manufacturer based in London, took the decision in 2014 to diversify into timber window production to meet growing customer demand. Working with IWM, they specified a Soukup Crafter CNC Window Machining Centre — and were up and running within weeks of installation. The transition gave PCW the capability to serve a quality-conscious market they had previously been unable to supply.

    The Challenge

Perfect Crystal Windows had built its business on UPVC window manufacture, but growing demand from customers seeking quality timber windows was creating a gap in what the company could offer. The owner recognised that entering the timber window market would require a significant and carefully chosen investment in CNC machining capability. After speaking to a number of suppliers, he struggled to find a company that could give him confidence in both the machine specification and the support behind it — nothing, as he put it, quite added up.

    The Solution

Through IWM and specialist Ian Brown, PCW was introduced to the Soukup Crafter CNC Window Machining Centre — a dedicated timber window machining centre well suited to a manufacturer making the transition from UPVC into wood. Ian Brown's hands-on knowledge of the Soukup range and the specific demands of timber window production gave the PCW owner the assurance he needed that the specification was right for their operation. Delivery arrived on schedule and installation was completed quickly, with the machine fully commissioned and ready for production without delay.

    The Results

PCW began manufacturing timber windows on the Soukup Crafter in April 2014. The swift installation and commissioning meant there was minimal disruption to the business as it established its new product line. The machine gave PCW the production capability to respond directly to market demand for quality timber windows — a capability the company had not previously held. The owner's confidence in the process, from specification through to go-live, reflected the straightforward and effective way the project was managed.
