Chessington-based joinery firm Todi & Boys needed to scale up production of timber casement and sliding sash windows and doors, but traditional labour-intensive methods were holding them back. IWM and Soukup supplied a fully integrated suite of CNC window machinery — all configured for the UK market — that transformed their production capability. The installation allowed Todi & Boys to meet their business growth ambitions while streamlining the entire process from office order to finished component.

    The Challenge

Todi & Boys had clear ambitions to grow production of their timber casement and sliding sash windows and doors, but their existing methods were too labour-intensive to scale. After researching the machinery market extensively, they found that while various options existed, no single supplier could offer equipment that was both purpose-built for UK window and door production and supplied as a cohesive, integrated solution. This gap in the market left them without a clear path to increasing throughput without taking on significant additional manual labour.

    The Solution

IWM and Soukup addressed this directly by supplying a complete, integrated production line configured specifically for UK casement and sliding sash windows, as well as doors and general joinery. The installation comprised a Soukup Crafter CNC window centre, a Crossline 500 automatic crosscut saw, a Versa DM CNC milling and drilling machine, a GS 5 five-head moulding machine, and an FP 32:21 hydraulic frame and sash cramp. All CNC machines are linked to Soukup's Wincreator software, enabling production orders to be sent directly from the office to each machine. The Crossline 500 is coupled with a label printer that attaches customer order details to components, which then follow the job through the Crafter and Versa machines for hinge and handle preparation, triple vent machining, and all further operations — all driven from within a single software environment.

    The Results

The integrated Soukup line fundamentally changed how Todi & Boys operate. The knock-down component production methodology — with all CNC machines networked through Wincreator — removed the manual handoffs and labour bottlenecks that had previously constrained output. The business was able to achieve the production volumes and operational objectives it had set out to reach, with a workflow in which every component is tracked, labelled, and processed consistently from order receipt through to assembly.
